Cale Wood

Cale is a structural engineer who moved into project management, and his value sits in the space between design and construction. He reads a design for how it will actually get built, and works the risks out early, before they can become problems on site.

He earned his engineering degree from Auckland in 2016 and spent six years at a Wellington structural engineering firm, becoming a registered engineer across residential, industrial and heritage work, before joining RCP in 2022.

Since then he has become known for his construction practicality, using his technical background and time on site to simplify complex problems for clients and teams alike. He is as comfortable on the contract side as with buildability, and often takes on the contract administration and engineer’s representative roles on a project.

He made his early mark closing out difficult projects like Queensgate, and more recently completed 55 Molesworth Street. He also works upstream now, on feasibility and business cases, so clients can commit with confidence.
