Andrew Burton

Andrew sees both sides of a project, the design and the business case behind it. He trained as an architect and later took an MBA, and works client-side with an eye on both what gets built and whether it stacks up.

Originally from the UK, he spent his early career across a wide span of property work, healthcare, leisure and commercial, for public and private clients, and at the strategic end of property asset management. That breadth left him more interested in how projects come together and get delivered than in drawing them, and he moved to New Zealand and joined RCP in 2020.

Since then he has worked closely with Mercy Ascot across several projects, from a new specialist centre through to Allevia Hospital Epsom, the full redevelopment of its Epsom campus, staying with each from concept to completion.

He puts a lot into the early planning, and is just as ready to question a brief when it needs it. He gives real time to the people around him, pushing them to keep learning on the job, and takes the view that a project only goes as well as the person driving it.
