Steyn Lötter

Steyn's view of the job is that the difference between a project that succeeds and one that struggles usually comes down to people rather than process, to how well you read a room, stay versatile and stay honest about what you are trying to achieve. That outlook was formed early, in environments where the stakes were high and there was little room for misalignment.

He grew up in Cape Town in a family working in architecture and development, and gravitated toward construction, starting out on the ports. At 21 he took a job in Saudi Arabia, moving into project management on large-scale oil and gas developments while finishing his Bachelor of Construction Management. Six months became seven years.

He moved to New Zealand in 2019 and joined RCP in early 2024, working across project delivery and strategic client work, helping clients make the right calls early and keep their investment pointed in the right direction. Much of his work is in the health and education sectors, and he prefers projects whose value carries beyond the build itself into the communities they serve.

As his career develops he is putting energy into the strategic side of client work and into the people around him, seeing mentoring and close client work as two sides of the same coin, both needing you to listen well, ask the right questions and care about the outcome.
