Eric Gray

Eric works across both RCP’s infrastructure and healthcare portfolios. A civil engineer who spent a decade in the field before joining in 2017, he brings broad experience across major infrastructure, from civil and water to roading and transport, and has filled most roles a large project needs, from project manager to engineer’s representative.

He is at ease across the whole chain of a project, from the technical experts to the government stakeholders who fund the work, and can put a complex idea in terms anyone can follow. He gives time to business improvement and to mentoring the younger team, and brings good humour to both.

He is strong on the high-value business cases and the governance and process behind major infrastructure. He is programme coordinator on Te Toka Tumai Auckland’s Facilities Infrastructure Remediation Programme, the roughly billion-dollar renewal of the hospital’s critical infrastructure.

On leadership, Eric puts the emphasis on getting the right people together to solve a problem and clearing the barriers in their way, rather than on being the smartest person in the room.

The work that motivates him carries a social context, projects that strengthen their communities, from transport to the health infrastructure a hospital runs on.
