Chris Jones

Chris joined RCP in 2018 to build its Wellington infrastructure team, and has grown it into a thriving part of the business. Behind that is more than 30 years in infrastructure across New Zealand and England, working for local authorities and engineering consultants and in client-side roles across the civil and electrical industries, leading in design, construction and project management throughout.

He has a well-earned reputation for leading complex, high-profile infrastructure projects from feasibility through to construction, and is currently engineer to contract on several Projects of National Significance. Much of his recent thinking is on the energy side, from utility-scale solar to the country's high-voltage transmission network.

Known as a people person, Chris puts real effort into developing teams and the culture around them, creating an environment where everyone is engaged and respected and can bring their specialist skills to a project. He mentors younger engineers, giving them roles that stretch them while staying on hand to guide, and tends to form relationships with clients, consultants and contractors that outlast the projects themselves.
