Boris Babic

Boris started out as a registered valuer in the commercial property sector, but wanted to see the whole development life cycle rather than one slice of it. That took him to RCP's advisory team in 2019, where he works at the front end of the property cycle, assessing opportunities and running due diligence, feasibility, masterplanning and development management for RCP and its clients.

He now heads RCP's development management work. He is drawn to the fact that no two properties are the same, each with its own characteristics and constraints, and his standout skill is negotiation, defining what success looks like, finding where the flex is and understanding what the other side is trying to achieve.

For Boris the hardest balance in development is between the commercial numbers and the intangibles, the things that make a place work for people. A project can stack up on paper and still need to deliver a long-term outcome for the community, and with RCP involved from inception to disposal it can help shape that outcome.

Beyond his project work, Boris is a long-serving mentor for the construction charity Keystone Trust and sits on the national board of the Property Institute of New Zealand.
